How it started...
Could a forced retiree and an office manager approaching retirement be used by God to change a life for eternity in a land over 8000 miles
away? Early in 2001, Bob and Ethel Carter attended a Global Missions Conference at their home church, Wildwood Baptist Church, in Acworth, Georgia.
It was there they met Pastor Daniel Juma who was visiting from Kenya. In their conversations, Pastor Daniel invited them to visit and spend some time teaching, witnessing, prayer and discipleship as well as working with the pastors from all over the area.
In fall 2001, on the trip that God would use to reveal to them His plan, they went to Oyugis, a small village close to Lake Victoria, to work with a local pastor’s conference. Bob and Ethel were dramatically changed by the conditions they saw while on this trip. There were children with no clothes. Children with no food. Children with no opportunity for an education. Children with no place to call home~ ~~~Children with no hope.
So late in 2001, they answered God's calling to help the orphans in Kenya who have been devastated by the impact of the AIDS virus.
These children are the true victims of the ravages of AIDS. When both parents have died from AIDS, and no relatives that can afford to take them in, today nearly a million children have been left to fend for themselves in any way possible. Returning home with the images of these children fresh in their minds, Bob and Ethel felt God speaking to their hearts, asking them to step up and make a difference in the very lives of the children they had just seen.
Bob and Ethel went to the Word and found Matthew 19:13-14
Then little children were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them. v14 But Jesus said, Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.
So in obedience to God's calling, they formed Living Hope Ministries International in November of 2001. Thus began the road to making a difference in a world that many never see. The rest of the story~~
