Vera is now in the 8th grade and doing well in school. Her favorite subject this year is science because she is really enjoying learning about the human body, how it functions and how she can better take care of hers. After finishing high school, her dream is to go on to university and become a doctor. Vera is a huge soccer player. She loves it and she is really great at it too. She plays center back for her team at school. When all the kids play at the Hope Centre, Vera always steps up and is a leader on the team directing everyone where they need to go and what they need to do better. Off the field she is a leader with the other kids as well, she helps lead discipleships groups with the younger kids throughout the week as well as teaching devotion during some nights of the week. Vera also enjoys hanging out with her friends and telling stories. During school holidays, when Kenyan government requires all children who have been orphaned and live at a children’s home such as The Hope Centre to return home to their guardians, Vera returns home to her grandmother.
