Craigler, age 9, came to The Hope Centre around age 5 in 2014 with five other children from his family: Esther, Vivian, Joshua, Felix, and Innocent. Some of them are Craigler’s siblings, others are his cousins. They had all been living with their Shosho (grandmother) — who was caring for at least 12 children on her small farm. The children still go back to visit their grandmother while on school holidays — where Craigler helps his grandmother dig in the garden to plant a new crop of corn. He also enjoys helping her with house chores. Since coming to The Hope Centre, Craigler’s life has changed in many ways. He says that he loves to read now and loves practicing football (soccer) and riding bikes with his best friend, Seth. He enjoys a comfortable bed, shoes, food, a school uniform, and clean clothes. Now in Class 4, Craigler already has big hopes for the future. He wants to study English in university and become a cab driver!
